Tragic news has reached Cageprisoners that the former detainee Faraj Hassan passed away on the morning of 16 August 2010.

Cageprisoners is saddened to learn of the death of Faraj Hassan, who fought against various forms of detention without charge in the UK since 2002. During his detention he faced deportation to Libya as well as being subjected to a control order. 8 months ago he finally managed to secure his freedom and used the time he had free in order to work on behalf of those still detained without charge or trial.

On the morning of 16 August 2010, Faraj Hassan passed away after a tragic motorcycle accident. He leaves behind a wife and three young children.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon - we ask that Allah SWT grants his family patience to deal with the difficult days ahead and we further pray that Allah SWT grants out brother the highest level of jannah.

    ASalama alaykum wa rahmatuallahi wa barakatuhu

    Brother Faraj died with a smile on his face,this sign should be enough for his family to seek comfort from.

    Lets not forget that RasoolAllah said when a calamity strikes you.............

    Ibn ‘Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) and Saabit Al-Jumahee (radi Allahu anhu) both related that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa salaam) said,“If one of you is afflicted with a calamity, then let him remember his calamity by me (i.e., by my death); for indeed, it is the greatest of calamities.”
    1. Related by Ibn Sa’d, al-Darimi, and others; through other narrations that attested to it, it is authentic, as mentioned in al-Sahihah (106)

    It is actually still very difficult to gain a grasp of what has happened here. We all understand that this was in his Qadr and that we should be happy with that, but it is difficult to not think of suffering his wife and children have suffered over the years, only for that to be exacerbated.

    Faraj was truly a beautiful brother who will always remain an example to us who try and continue in this work.

    Asalam Aleikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu. It is with great honour to have know Faraj and his family. it is sad that he has been taken away from all the people that loved him and shared his frustrations especially his family.my family was fortunate to have seen him again the day before yesterday and he was so hopeful for the release of the brothers and relief for their families. Allah choses people who are dear to him and takes them away from the fitna of this Dunia. May Allah (swt) grant his family patience and more taqwa. May this test make them steadfast in their deen and may they be reunited in Janatul Firdause. There are very few people in this world who could speak out when they saw oppression and Faraj Hassan was one of them, may Allah (swt) grant him jannatul firdause ameen.

    Assalamu alaikum;

    This news has shocked me. I am deeply upset.We have lost a great brother.I wrote to him a couple of times whilst he was at Long Lartin and his letters to me were always full of hope and faith in Allah (Tawakkul). He was really sincere and kind hearted. May Allah SWT accept him amongst the Siddiqeen (Sincere ones) and the Righteous. Amin.
